I have recently discovered Plex, and have been using Now TV boxes around the house, with my i7 Mac mini as the server. I have also recently got a new 1080p TV, and using the 720p Now TV box just doesn’t seem right! I want a 1080p Plex Client that has ethernet (as wi-fi signal in this part of the house is weak) and doesn’t break the bank. So I thought about using the raspberry pi, but I have heard that it does not cope well with DTS audio. Most of my library is 1080p MKV with DTS audio and a bitrate of 10-15 Mbps. How well does the pi cope with DTS audio (it would be plugged in to my TV and using the TVs built in 2.0 speakers).

With a reasonable overclock the Pi can handle most things but, as mentioned above, it does have issues with high bitrates. Movies with an average bitrate of 15Mbps will probably have spikes above 20Mbit, both the network and CPU capabilities of the Pi will be stressed by those spikes if they aren't very short...
I haven't tested with high bitrate material, and I use an AV Receiver to decode my audio, so I haven't had any issues playing 1080p content with the overclock (950/450/450/4 as per dlanor's guide https://forums.plex.tv/topic/98720-overclock-is-not-working-like-it-works-on-raspbmc-and-openelec/#entry581200)
Thanks guys! That's good news about the server and DTS transcoding! If the Pi can't keep up with the high bitrate files it won't be a big loss. I'll just have to find another client and will have a spare Raspberry Pi to play with!
