Raspberry Pi won't go past the rainbow screen on startup

I’m using a brand new 8GB Sandisk class 10 on a Raspberry Pi B 512 and I’ve tried using GetRasplex to download both the 0.7.1 and 1.0.1 images however whenever I instert them into the Pi and turn it on it won’t progress past the rainbow screen. The Pi works perfectly well otherwise so I am at a loss to work out what has occured.

Powersupply is 5V 2A btw

Thanks in advance

Looks like you’re flashing the wrong image, there are two, one for the RPi1 and one for the RPi2. Please see here Install Rasplex using GetRasPlex for OSX or Windows GUI · RasPlex/RasPlex Wiki · GitHub

Incidentally the latest available version is 1.0.0.

Whoops, got confused with the GetRasplex and Rasplex versions, I was trying to download RasPlex-RPi2.RP-1.0.0.img which seems to be the correct image?

Make sure that once the download in GetRasplex has finished that you hit Write SD card without quitting.

Absolutely, It gives the overwrite warning message and then says “Writing Done!” at the bottom when it’s finished. I then safely remove the card, put it in the Raspberry Pi power it up it just freezes at the square rainbow thingy.

Can’t understand that. Try downloading the file from here and flash to your SD card https://github.com/RasPlex/RasPlex/releases

Just noticed what you said, that image is for an RPi2 you have an RPi B 512, you’re downloading the wrong image!

That’s the wrong file. You want the RPi image not the RPi2 image.

OK, thanks! Can’t try this right now but will let you know tommorow as soon as I do!

Thanks, it worked. I feel kinda stupid now…

Happens to the best of, glad you got it figured out.
