RasPlex on WD LAB PI HD

Hi all,
I’m a noob and haven’t found an answer on the net. I have a WD labs HD connected to my PI with RASPBX installed. Now I want to install RASPLEX on this HD. Is this possible? If yes how can I do this? Can I launch the GUI?

Thanks,

J.

Rasplex/OpenPHT is an embedded OS, meaning it has it’s own operating system as part of the installation. That means you can’t install it as part of a pre-existing raspbian installation or something that supports booting from different partitions or image files.

So you’d want to install it with n00bs or another multiboot solution if you are trying to keep other bootable images available. Rasplex/OpenPHT is usually just imaged to a single SD card since all content is streamed and not local… with the exception of the PlayFile menu feature, which just allows you to play local media files from a directory and does not have any database/poster/search/etc features. So your harddrive probably will not be a boon for Rasplex/OpenPHT.

I don’t support multiboot solutions as I don’t have any at this time, but there are people on the forums and past threads discussing how it’s done.

You should probably tell us what kind of end vision you have for this project and maybe we can help you get there.

I can’t use a muliboot in this particular setup. RASPBX needs to be online without any interruption. Having 2 or more Pi’s at home is a better and safer solution. Thanks, J.
