Rasplex only plays part 1 of compilation

First off, I'm a KISS fan.  Second, I wanted to blare some loud music with the wife out.  I realized that Rasplex would not move onto the next file once it completed the first.

This is occurring with all of my split videos.  The split is because multiple DVDs come in the set.

Any thoughts on this one?  Known bug I didn't find elsewhere?

That's what playlists are for. Create a playlist and add each of the videos to it.

Understood.  I'll look into Playlists.  But, this was never a problem with Chromecast from Plex.  It kept on going to the next DVD...  So, I thought I'd report it as I found it strange that Rasplex doesn't act the same.

EDIT:  wait are you saying I must split this into separate entries of the same compilation within Plex?  Or, add the bundled compilation into a playlist?

Try adding the bundle, which Plex Client were you casting to Chromecast from?

I used the Plexpass app.  Haven't tried it since they merged...been using Rasplex 0.4.1 constantly in both rooms!!!  :D

Actually, I haven't noticed the playlists icon on 0.4.1 so I might be out of luck for now...

Which 'Plexpass' app? Merged with what? Just trying to understand the issue.

Regards

No worries.  Sorry for being unclear.

I was using the Plexpass Plex app for Android.  It merged into the standard Plex app.  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexapp.android

For whatever reason, the app and casting continued to the next DVDs just fine whereas with Rasplex 0.4.1 it doesn't continue onward.

As far as I'm aware you can select the Pi a a player in the Android app, then select what you want to play in the Android app and it will play on the Pi, have you tried this. Unfortuneatly I only have Apple products.

I'll give that a try.  Only concern is that Rasplex on its own will not play multiple parts of the compilation whereas casting is fine.  Also, the Plex webapp seemed to jump to the next DVD from my recollections...

Quick update:  I played this item successfully also from the Plex web client to Chromecast.

Also, it streams just fine to the Android and web clients and moving to the next part in a compilation.

So, Rasplex is the only client I have that will not move to the next compilation.  Rather, Rasplex starts Part 1 over and over.

Understood, but this still doesn't mean that there's any bug in the porting of PHT from the official version to the unofficial Rasplex version.

If the same bug also exists in the official version, then it's up to the coders of the official PHT project to fix the bug, not the RasPlex team.

In this particular case I know that I have seen reports of this issue for official PHT as released for Windows and other PC OS.

RasPlex is based on the same sources as official PHT, and the goal is to make RasPlex behave exactly like PHT on a PC.

The exception being those changes which are required to make PHT work under OpenELEC on Raspberry Pi hardware.

For some few cases the RasPlex team has developed bug fixes and improvements later adopted by the official PHT project.

But normally it's up to the official project team to fix such things, which will then be ported into subsequent RasPlex versions.

So it's the official PHT project team that needs to be reminded of the need to fix proper playback of multipart videos.

And that is best done by posting about this issue in the subforums for official PHT.

Best regards: dlanor

Sounds good.  I'll reference this to PHT.  It might be better for me to wait until 0.6.x is out, though?  I'm using 0.4.1 and that has an older PHT version.  So, this may be a moot point on all accounts if it is already resolved in something newer.

I'm glad to post it there now, but I don't want to cause further issue if it's unnecessary.

Allright, I have a workaround solution for this.  It isn't pretty because each of the three KISSology sets has 3-5 DVDs.  Not all of them have the same aspect ratio or audio format.

But, I combined a majority of the DVDs to each set into one file.  The rest are split apart and renamed to help signify as bonus DVDs and so on.

I'm an Ubuntu user, so I did:

apt-get install gpac

Then, I used MP4Box from the package as follows:

MP4Box cd1.mp4 -cat cd2.mp4 cd3.mp4 -out combined.mp4

This only works if the original files have the same video aspect ratio and the same format and channels in their audio track.

I removed the original files from my Library, refreshed so it would trash the old files, and copied the new data into the specific directories.

It seems to work okay.  I haven't had a chance to try it on the Denon AVR, but it seems to be working on a standard stereo setup.
