If Plex would at least read more Vorbis comment fields (and ID3 tags for the MP3 impoverished), then interfaces like Symphonium could display them. Even more ideal would be if Plexamp displayed more fields natively. In a perfect world, we could choose which field to display. For me (and most?), the ‘Comment’ field is the most utilized, but I believe ‘Recorded’ is up there too.
My use case is that I have multiple copies of the same album, with each copy having a unique mastering and/or format. I use the comment field to put this and other miscellaneous data (like recording label) to identify the difference between albums. My current workaround is to browse my music by folder, since the folder name includes unique identifiers for each recording. However, I would love to see the comment field in the ‘Now Playing’ interface. Seeing the comment field in the album view would be a dream scenario, but I know that space is at a premium and would need to be a toggle for those that wanted it.
In short, reading the ‘Comment’ field of Vorbis comments would completely change my user experience with Plex, Plexamp, and by proxy Symphonium.
