Plex can parse embedded metadata of MP4 files (with some minor issues), but it doesn’t seem like it’s able to read any embedded metadata from MKV files. It would be nice to have this functionality added, as it’s useful to be able to embed certain metadata (such as custom/preferred poster art) as a failsafe in case the Plex database needs to be rebuilt.
