Hi, with the increases popularity of AMD CPUs now a days and it’s pretty power efficient CPUs, it seems like a perfect setup for a home server.
But from what I can see in the Plex Hardware Transcoding compatibility page, AMD GPU transcoding is not supported in Plex on Linux. Even though FFmpeg supports it for quite a while now. This seems to be like that for years now and no information nor reason has been given on why this artificial limitation.
Browsing through the forums here I found several topics discussing this, but I haven’t seen anybody official from Plex commenting on this topic.
Are there any reasons why AMD Hardware transcoding is being ignored? Are there any proper information regarding this topic anywhere?
