So since Yosemite...
When I reboot my machine, I have PlexConnect installed as a daemon. When that happens, it's no longer available from my aTV (actually no network function is on it that isn't local network because of the DNS). It just sits at loading. Now, if I run unload/load it works.
And here's the kicker...if I run sudo launchctl list | grep plexconnect (straight up after a reboot, no load/unload) I get a process ID and THEN it works. It's almost like the process has to be touched. Makes no sense to me, anyone run across this?
One user only, admin, auto login. Only relevant thread I've really seen is here
Have you tried the app? Weird the daemon after reboot wouldn’t work using the official Mac instructions. Do you have you Mac set for dhcp reservation on your router? What is the mac’s ip address before and after the reboot?
It is set for reservations for forwarding purposes. The IP is the same before and after.
I didn't even know OpenPlex existed, I'll give it a go.
Edit: I installed OpenPlex and had some problems getting it going - this is probably due to a 6 week old and a 20 month old requiring all my attention ;)
However, when I uninstalled it and installed the PlexConnect daemon again, it's all back to working after a reboot. Something in my config that was broken must have been cleared out by the install/uninstall. OpenPlex looks very promising, I'll give it another go when I have more free time.
Thanks!
