All of my media files sit on a NAS and when it disconnected from the machine the Plex Server runs on, all movie files were deleted from Plex and then readded when the connection was reestablished. I’ve since resolved this by disabling the ‘Show Advanced’ - “Empty trash automatically after every scan” in Settings - Library.
However, following the rescan of all media files, my ‘Recently Added In Films’ is all out of sequence, showing films added back in 2013 as the most recently added.
Is it possible for the developers to please update the code to display the recently added films based on the ‘Date Modified’ column in Finder? This seems the most accurate way to do this.
This is already the case, if the library is scanned during the course of its creation – i.e. when it’s scanning for the very first time.
So, if you just delete the whole library, then perform a database optimization and “Clean bundles” operation, then recreate the library and let it scan uninterrupted immediately, you should get all items added by their file’s “modified” date.
Thanks for the quick reply and sorry for taking a while to respond. I’ve looked at the ‘restore a database backup’ option and am unable to locate the files. Also, deleting the whole library to perform a database optimization and “Clean bundles” operation seems like a big step to resolve such a minor issue and one I’m not comfortable doing. Is it not possible for a future release to code in an option to either pull/display the ‘Recently Released Movies’ from either when they were added to the Plex database, which is what is currently done, or from the ‘Date Modified’ date in Finder, and therefore store this additional ‘Data Modified’ date in the Plex database to give the user the option of how they wish the ‘Recently Released Movies’ to be displayed? It would make it far more user-friendly and certainly the less techy option to resolve the issue.
