In android plex and web plex when you add several episodes of a single show the Plex application will show the name of the show only 1 time and indicate how many episodes were added as a number. I find this preferable, especially when you add an entirely new show that has multiple seasons and thus will completely blow away your “recently added” list with tons of episodes of the new show.

No there is no such option at this moment (unless some skins offers it). Afair there was such request either on forum or on github.

I would think it would be a client API call, just because the web client has this functionality. But I don’t know really. They maybe doing some result juju to drop redundant episodes or create artificial groupings within the client itself from non-grouped results.
This feature will be available in v1.7 …
