"Reclaiming" my media server

While testing a docker I’m creating, I accidentally deleted my main plex server’s docker. Yeah. Ninja move, I know - the order changed and I wasn’t paying close enough attention. A second of inattention has cost me about 20 hours of fruitless work so far.

I had two Plex dockers, both of which were using the linuxserver image. However, when I go to “Add Container” and select the name of my main server, it comes up with empty settings (none of my many, many mappings, etc). After fiddling a bit, I did a restore using the CA Backup/Restore plugin of a month-old backup. It never got past “Connection Refused” when trying to access the GUI and the server was never available on any of my players.

I’ve tried a few different images (mostly the official image but a bit of binhex) and I can’t seem to reclaim my old server. I’ve copied the full contents of the appdata folder into the new container’s folder, but it still wants to set it up as a new server. I see my old one pinned as unavailable.

Any ideas what I’ve missed? I would’ve thought moving the media/metadata folders and preferences file into the installation would at least have created those libraries, but it’s just blank. My gut says that something went wrong when the appdata backup was created, as the preferences.xml inside corresponds to a blank server. It feels like I overwrote the “real” preference data with the broken backup data… Any way to retrieve it if so? Rebuilding this from scratch is likely several hundred hours of work.
