+1 this feature needs to be added ASAP
Two years and and still nothing… sure would be nice to see this someday. Also make sure you like the original poster so that it gets PLEX’s attention.
This feature would be nice. Could have a library that shows up on your devices that other users have recommended to you. whether it be a tv series or a movie, they would all be there and show who recommended it. you could also remove them from this library if you are not interested.
+1 on this idea. I would love to have my friends recommend movies

Just an update for a quick ghetto way to do this. Create a new library called “whatever” and then you can use symlinks to dynamically link over shows/movies to the new library. It won’t duplicate the data or anything. This is NOT a solution, just a cheap hack work around until plex actually starts implementing features we ask for.
I desperately want this feature, we have about 20 family member users across the country, and would love to be able to recommend a movie once watched. It doesn’t make any sense to have to add a movie I just watched, to the watch later, then choose recommend. It’s a very weird place to put that feature, please fix! And too confusing for my older users to remember.
I don’t need the ability to specify the user to recommend to, just make it show up in the recommended deck for all 20 different accounts that share my server.
If possible, please put a little comment below picture in deck that shows who recommended it, as some people’s tastes are more in sync with yours.
Another idea or solution is to have a like/thumbs up/thumbs down rating system on all movie info screens. So you can see 3 others on this server have watched this and liked it. Maybe you could even sort/filter by most liked, as we have 2000 movies and picking one becomes overwhelming

I have a working solution in my thread for a while now that does just this. I use a TAG VL-whatever (VL=Virtual Library) in the metadata and then a script you run outside of plex in a schedule if you want that keeps the virtual library updated. Since it’s just simlinks it doesn’t use additional disc space but does allow you to create real libraries pointing to them. I do this for Recommended movies as well as holiday movies I can switch up depending on time of year (Christmas, Valentines day, Thanksgiving, Halloween, etc)

I spent hours trying to figure out how to recommend something from my own collection to a user who is a member of my household (plex pass family setup) and am bemused that you can only recommend something on the watch later list which in turn only seems to support external content. Quite baffling. Can we please fix this disconnect?

I share my music library with a few friends, including one named Bobbie. WHY IN THE WORLD can’t I just tap-n-hold on a song or album (or artist, for that matter) and just say “Recommend” to “Bobbie”? C’mon, developers!! Music is truly alive when it is a shared experience. PLEASE STOP MUCKING THIS UP!!!

So … I too just wanted to recomend some of my content to a plex friend and it seems that is not possible? how sad - seems like a no brainer to be able to do!
