Hi everyone,
I’m looking for a compact and efficient Plex Media Server device that can handle 3 simultaneous 4K transcodes smoothly. I have a Plex Pass, so I want to make full use of hardware transcoding (Intel QuickSync, NVIDIA NVENC, or any other optimized solution).
I’m considering:
- A mini PC with an Intel 12th/13th/14th-gen CPU (QuickSync support)
- A small form factor device with a discrete GPU (RTX 3060 or higher)
- An NVIDIA Shield TV Pro (not sure if it’s powerful enough for this workload)
Which option would be the best for reliable 4K HDR transcoding with minimal power consumption? Are there any recommended mini PC builds with a powerful iGPU or a small but efficient dedicated GPU?
Thanks for your suggestions!
