I keep my recorded TV and TV show DVD sets in different libraries in order to differentiate them; unfortunately this means that Plex DVR will sometimes record an episode of a show that I already have on DVD (for example, it’s been recording reruns of Season 1 of Young Sheldon even though I bought the Season 1 DVD set and added it to my server). Having to delete the episodes manually is somewhat annoying and I’d like a more elegant solution to the problem.
Aside from having the DVR scan all the files on the server and not just the files in its respective library, the option to only record specific seasons would be nice. When you hit record on a series, the option to only record specific seasons could be under advanced settings, and there you could checkmark what seasons you want to record or from a specific season onward. For example, I could have the server only record episodes of Young Sheldon from Season 2 onward, or only episodes from Season 5 of The Simpsons, etc.
Or perhaps a simpler method would be to check what seasons I don’t want it to record. For example, tell it not to record Young Sheldon episodes from Season 1. Either method would work.
