I had an episode of a “New Airings Only” scheduled recording fail to record the other day. Another airing of the show came on a few hours later, so I tried to record it, but had absolutely no ability to do so because it was no longer considered a “New Airing”. This is incredibly inconvenient, as I am sure most can imagine.
I’d really like the ability to go into a show that is not recording, and just click the “Record” button. Regardless if it is a part of a series recording or not.
So, I am on the latest version of the server, and of the Plex Media Player, and I am still experiencing this problem. If I have a scheduled recording, that is set to new airings only, I cannot record older episodes on the fly. If I try to click to set it to record, the only option it gives me is to cancel recurring recordings, or modify the recurring recordings.
I know this is older, but it would be VERY nice to be able to schedule a recording of a non-new episode of a show that you’re already recording “new episodes only” of. Sometimes things happen, and you need to be able to grab another airing of an episode, or you’re just trying to backfill older stuff. Please consider this change.

I’m new to the Plex DVR (Been using HD HomeRun till recently) and would definitely agree that this would be a great option. I’m only wanting current season to be recorded too but once and a while come across an old episode that I’d like to re-watch. Having to set it to record all episodes just creates more work later to remove all the extra episodes I didn’t want to see again. HD HomeRun does have this functionality and I immediately noticed it missing here. Overall though I’m much happier with Plex… and this will increase if this functionality is added 
** Update… It appears that this has been addressed on the iOS applications and works great on both iPhone and iPad software… It looks like it is just issue on the web interface and the application on my TV. Fingers crossed that these are under development as well 
This is amazing news. This means that they are starting to address the issue. Even if it takes a while, it is great to know that they are finally working on it.
Is this function available as of now?
