The non-alpha scanner doesn’t work at all for me.
Alpha scanner works but it does not filter all the useless subfolder content like
Drama, Picture drama, Extra, PV, Creditless, Preview, Previews, Menu…
My really old absolute scanner version (~30kib size) does handle them properly (read ignore). Unfortunately it fails with shows having numbers in the name like this one anidb.net/a10598
Adding the above-mentioned to the ignore_dirs_rx array does not prevent them from being listed either.
Testing by deleting the .pyc and creating a new library each time.
Ok… But my shows are managed by Japanese media manager so the name used is the one from anidb. Even if it works, it would need to be fixed. The problem doesn’t exist with the old scanner, only with the alpha scanner
@saitoh183: got it the 170 and 171 are skipped. anything with 170 or 171 in other titles ? you have the filelist generated by the scanner so i can reproduce ?
Naruto Shippuden - 170 - Big Adventure! Search for the Fourth Hokages Legacy - Part 1 [HorribleSubs].mkv Naruto Shippuden - 171 - Big Adventure! Search for the Fourth Hokages Legacy - Part 2 [HorribleSubs].mkv
@tokoku: are you sure you created a Series library ? if so then evey file is an episode of a serie… But hama support movies in series library as the first episode of a serie with the same name as workaround…
@Devocalypse: alpha scanner fixed and added to the normal scanner sepository. skip Extras and other folders now. need to check if it skip filenames too…

Here are some more that failed to scan in properly because of the episode title:
Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex\Ghost in the Shell - Stand Alone Complex - 01 - Section 9 [a-S].mkv
Death Note - 36 - 1.28 [TSR].mkv
Neon Genesis Evangelion - The End of Evangelion - 01-02 - Complete Movie [ACX].mkv (this one scanned in the Complete movie with the old scanner. New one scanned in a second copy using the same file but set it as part 1 of 2..check anidb)
Natsu no Arashi! - 01 - Playback Part 2 [SubDESU].mkv
Yowamushi Pedal - Grande Road - 01 - Phase 49 [HorribleSubs].mkv
Lots of these where all corrected with the old scanner when i mentioned them the first time
Ok I have a specific issue and its driving me up a wall, I’ve never needed help but this is my first time using scanners and agents specifically for my anime and I’m sure I did something wrong.
I created a Library for my Anime and used Hama as the agent. For all my anime series (like 10 in total) it works perfect, it gets the posters/series descriptions/episode titles and summaries, etc.
For one anime in particular (Fairy Tail) it does not do this. It only gets the posters and series descriptions(which i think is pulling from TVDB) it does not get the episode titles or descriptions. I use the same naming convention for everything so I don’t understand, here are pics.
I know there are probably some logs i should post to make this easier but I really don’t know which ones you need(like i said its my first time dealing with stuff like this). Please let me know what you need from me and ill try to provide.
Ok so I can’t edit my original post…so I just wanted to say I did figure this out in case anybody else comes across similar problem like me. I had the 175 episodes split into seasons(since thats how they were organized when I got the files from my source) and I guess plex/hama/whatever did not agree with this. I took the eps from the other seasons and put them into ‘season 1’ and properly numbered them to go from 1 to 175 and that allowed all the episode titles and descriptions to flood in

I’ve tried to install this on my PMS which is hosted on a QNAP NAS, but I cannot seem to get PMS to detect the agent. The agent is not visable under Settings > Server > Agents > Shows
I Swear I’ve followed the instructions to the letter and even wget the scanner.py and _ init _.py file from the github
I originally downloaded the first post ZIPs and then realized DUH those are outdated ZIPs. Downloaded the latest master branch files, restarted PMS, Refreshed the library and Bob’s your uncle
Has there been any kind of change in the last two days or so in terms of how the scanner works? I scan the anime and it detects the show and even the Anidb database number, however for some reason it won’t download any poster details or anything. Even the poster in the anime list doesn’t show anything.
Looked through the scanner and it seems to have everything there. I only just put the new hama.bundle in (couldn’t find a new agent file). Seems like the posters won’t download for some strange reason.
Quick Edit: It DOES download episode pictures and details. Even the anime summary. Just no posters.

Hi, I am completely new to installing custom agents. I was able to follow this guide perfectly, but have one question. For long anime series, such as Naruto, the agent pulls all of the correct information except for the summary of an episode. All it says is “TVDB summary missing.” I wanted to use this agent because I thought it would also pull summary of episodes. Is there anyway to get a detailed summary of the episodes without TVDB, since they use a different numbering system? Thanks!
It is an anidb and tvdb agent.
Anidb doesn’t have summaries for episodes so i map the anidb eps to tvdb
using mapping files. If tvdb doesn’t have it, which metadata source with an
api have them?
Let me know which range of eps don’t have a summary and i will check but
indicate your season nuber and ep number in plex, as it should work.

Hama Agent logs needed.
The files shows in plex so don’t need scanner logs. Click on the agent link
in signature for instructions on troubleshooting.
I forgot that the hama agent log was in a different location. Along with that, somehow my permissions got out of whack. It was a permissions issue. I have absolutely no idea how that happened, but it did somehow.
