How should get it to see my OVAs because I created special and ova folders and don’t seem to work.
I set up my OVAs and specials as TV libraries. I then rename my OVAs and specials as 01, p2, 03, etc. (Even if it is a single episode - if there is no number it won’t be seen by the system) . Much like TV series. The MAL agent takes it from there.

So you create a whole new library and named them thisAnime - p2.mkv?
Can I have an example of your folder structure of it?
I actually have 2 directories (I put specials in with TV series) in a single library.
Example:
/Anime/TV/KonoSuba
KonoSuba - 01.mkv
KonoSuba - 02.mkv
/Anime/TV/KonoSuba Special
KonoSuba Special - 01
/Anime/OVA/KonoSuba OVA
KonoSuba OVA - 01.mkv
BABS will pick up the series, specials and OVA as episodes. Then MAL agent takes over and looks it up.
this might be interesting for you https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/categories/200028098-Media-Preparation
In fact, your problem probably isn’t an issue with the Agent (since an Metadata Agent only provides Data for already found and to your library added Media files) but rather with the Scanner or your file Naming.
If your Library is defined as TV-Show you absolutely need to have a number in the name, for example xx - 01 or xx - 02. If your Library is defined as Movies you don’t need the numbers and the scanner will find and add the files to your library without numbers in the filename.
So if you have an OVA that hasn’t a number in it’s filename because it is the only OVA for this Anime AND the Library is setup as TV-Show the scanner won’t add it to the library.

Yep, I had the issue when i first set up my library. The single OVA and special episodes were my only problem or the scanner. I just made them episode 01. After that it recognized everything. Currently I have almost 2,000 OVA, Series and Specials in a single library, BABS identifies them and Daraku’s MAL agent takes care of all the metadata… Until MAL changes something on their site and Daraku has to figure out what they did

Hope they don’t or at least provide more data with less requests so that my API won’t flood them with requests anymore
Agreed, but if they really wanted to do the right thing for users they would either adopt your API or publish a working and maintained API.
How do I install this on Synology?
Your stuff isn’t working on DSM.

What exactly is not working?
Hello, I recently added some new series to my library and I can’t seems to match metadata anymore. It would scan for it, started downloading stuff and immediately finished the progress, leaving the show with no metadata. I tried to clear the caches, reinstalling the plug-in, waited and try multiple times and occasion to no avail. I was hoping if you can help me get the metadata matches since to me by far your plugin pull the best metadata.
Here are the log file: http://pastebin.com/D8eaHcRX

Thanks for reporting this, Search is working fine so a match is made but while requesting detailed information for that specific anime the result is empty. Can’t say why yet and need to take a look, maybe myanimelist has changed something on their site again and my parser is confused but I can’t say for sure.

Kool. I am having this same issue as well and I really like this agent. It has gotten better matches for me than the TVDB agent has.
Worked fine the other week, but I ran into an issue a couple of days ago that made me have to remove and re-add my anime and now even though I get a match, it does not download any metadata for all my anime shows.
There are a couple of shows I have in there that are not technically anime (Beast Wars, Avatar, to name a couple) so they did not have a match. When I use the TVDB agent to match those they come up fine. So I am guess this has to be a MAL agent issue.

I will fix the problem the upcoming weekend to have my mind free for it.
With the matches of avatar and beast wars etc, this is simple and probavly not a MAL issue. If they are not available on myanimelist.net then they are to 99.9% not an anime and my agent can’t get any data for them. Best suggestion I can give you is to split your library into anime and cartoons. TVDB on the other hand doesn’t discriminate between anime and everything else but mostly can’t handle the original titles.

Cheers. I like using this agent for my anime.
I believe you misunderstood what I was saying about the other shows. I am aware that they are not anime and therefore would not be found on MAL. I was using it as an example to say that when I used TVDB to match them, they downloaded their metadata fine. This meant (at least to me) that this was not a Plex issue but an issue with the individual MAL agent.
Every time I go to install it on DSM it fails. I’ve tried Chowning, Chmoding 777, everything. Nothing works. I’ve seen it show up sometimes, intermittently, in the menu, but then it disappears magically when I stop/start Plex. It makes no sense, since I followed the guide to the letter.
Every account has access to the damned plex folder, so I’m not sure it’s permissions. I really don’t know what else to do. It should be simple- just put it in the folder, but with Synology apparently it’s not. Piece of ■■■■.
Same issue, except it seems to download the summary and genres and whatnot of all my shows, but not the art or episode names for only some of my shows.

I don’t have a synology so I can’t really help that way but maybe this thread can help you https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/182086/how-to-install-plugin-on-synology-nas

if the agent only downloads parts of the Anime then the chance is high that myanimelist.net doesn’t have the other information available or are just not up to date. Best thing to do here is to check myanimelist, see if the information are available, wait a week to let the cache of the API refresh and if it isn’t available then it is a problem of the Agent.
On another Note:
It seems that I have fixed the issue with pulling data. I checked my Database and somehow it crashed and needed repair, I did that and it works now. Let me know if you still can’t get any information for some anime.

Thank you very much Daraku. I can confirm that my anime list is now getting all the metadata for it’s shows.
I really appreciate all your work to make all our anime libraries awesome ![]()

Thank you for taking your time fixing it. All the show that was having problem pulling data is now pulling the correct stuff.
I have a quick question involving episode title and summary stuff. I’ve been getting mixed result, and I don’t know if it was my error naming files or MAL having no data on that. So how can I check if it was my fault or MAL’s fault?
