I only seem to have Cine21 as a metadata agent for Movies. I can't find a way through the browser to add one. Can someone help?
Thanks
I have the same question, but I plodded my way though a bit and can say this:
- Within this forum subsection, I found the AdultFilmDB agent, which sounded like what I want.Ā I downloaded the zip file and opened it.Ā There's a directory within it called 'AdultFilmDB.bundle' and within that, a bunch of other stuff.
- I copied this folder to C:\Users\FRED\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins
("FRED" is your username, or I guess whichever user Plex uses.Ā Also, "AppData" is a hidden directory, so once you navigate to 'FRED', manually add '\appdata' in windows explorer, and it will appear.)
I then went into the Plex server web thingie, went into my Porn library (I have Movies, Music, TV Shows, and Porn), then did an edit .Ā The 'Edit' icon is the pen/pencil icon.
I clicked on 'Show Advanced Options' and looked at the available Agents in the drop-down list.Ā The Adult Film Database is now there so I selected it.
Now, when I edit/re-search one of the files in this library, it will search using that agent.Ā
That's as much as I've figured out.Ā The bigger question for me now is, "where's the list of available agents I can download?" - there doesn't seem to be one, and this forum is a lousy way to keep track or find them.Ā I would have thought there was a central listing.
You can find all available metadata agents in the Channel Directory under More... āĀ Metadata Agents. You can find the Channel Directory in Plex/Web by clicking the "+" icon:

Those are the official agents you can install. Anything else you find on this forum or elsewhere on the web is not really supported and there's no guarantee that those will work.
the moviedata base is no longer there... how do i update this?
Found it, but there are not many agent that are not already installed per default... Is there any option of getting RottenTomatoes and IMDB as official agents, or is there a legal issue with it?
all unofficial metadata agents must be installed by yourself, but that isnāt complicated just locate your Plugins folder (https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201106098-How-do-I-find-the-Plug-Ins-folder-) and copy it there. Done.
I have seen on several postings on this forum (not necessarily in this thread) where other Plex users have uploaded images showing they have a multitude of metadata agents to pick from besides the 2 basic choices of freebase and the moviedb⦠Ones like rotten tomatoes⦠how do I add these additional choices?

There are a couple of extra agents available in the Channel Directory. There are also several agents written by members of the Plex community. Most of those agents have a release ([REL]) thread somewhere on the forums.
People have described how to add a new agent to a Winblows environment but nothing on how/ where to install the bundles for Mac OS X.
Could someone please describe/ provide details on how to add a new metadata agent to Plex on Mac OS X?
Thanks!!
Find plug-ins folder [support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/201106098-How-do-I-find-the-Plug-Ins-folder-], put xxx.bundle folder in there, done.
Maybe itās just me, but when I browse anywhere in Channels, nothing is listed. Canāt find any additional Agents to add. Is there a spot where I can download them separately and install them by hand?
Iām having a problem where I have copied the .bundle folder to the plug in section but it isnāt appearing in plex.
If you have āContentsā folders inside, then it look good and is most probably a right issue, however without providing your OS, file structure, or right presents on the files, thatās as far as we can go. HTe answer would be in the system log in the agent log folder indside of logs folderā¦
My OS is Windows 10 and I am using the My Anime List plugin. Here is the file structure:
ā¦\Plex\Plex Media Server\Plug-ins\MyAnimeList.bundle\Contents
After that, I have the folder āCodeā, the folder āResourcesā, the file āDefaultPrefs.jsonā, and the file āInfo.plistā. Here is a screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/NyE7avv.png
It is installed at the right place. Check the following file, the answer is in it
ā¦\Plex\Plex Media Server\Logs\PMS Plugin Logs\com.plexapp.system.log
Here are my log files from when I first tried to install it.
2018-03-05 23:17:56,684 (346c) : INFO (logkit:16) - Agents in net.fribbtastic.coding.plex.myanimelist not in info dictionary - pinging!

Latest agent is not downloadable at the usual location: https://coding.fribbtastic.net/projects/myanimelistagent/
Cannot help further
Can you install another agent and see if this is installing? if so the issue is with the MyAnimeList agent version you installed.
I donāt know of another agent that works with Anime. The whole reason I am trying to install the agent is because TheTVDB and TheMovieDB is wrong.
HAMA = Http AniDB Metadata Agent is the best⦠use the beta branch on github for scanner (Absolute series Scanner) and agent (HAMA)
In which way are they wrong? Using japanese release as a base for numbering?
For Dragon Ball specifically, there are supposed to be nine seasons (one for each arc). On TheTVDB there are only 6 seasons.
I will try HAMA, thanks.
