Release: Subliminal Subtitles (Addic7ed, Podnapisi, OpenSubtitles)

How is the subtitle matched to the correct release? Is it comparing filename for release group/bluray/hdtv etc. as well as series title, season and episode?

Depends on the provider. Some support hashing (open subtitles), others do not. Then the scoring is done by subliminal itself. I suggest you take a look at their docs for further info

http://subliminal.readthedocs.org/en/latest/

Version 0.8.0 is included in the bundle.

How does this search for foreign audio only?

Also how do I know what subtitle was selected from the log?

Is there anyway to not have it look by the hash?  I convert all my mkv's to MP4 for roku direct playback so the hash will never match.

When I move Subliminal in the agent selection from the first place to the second and back it generate duplicates. How can I remove those duplicates?

Btw, this agent is by far the best subtitle agent if above can be fixed.

I don't think searching for foreign audio is supported by subliminal.

Logging which sub is chosen can be deducted by looking which sub gets which score and see what guess it has processed for that sub, but I don't think it is 100% accurate. I will add a debug statement when a file is written to disk or metadata to show the episode/movie and sub provider and URL.

I cannot influence the search behavior inside subliminal except for a few parameters. Some providers only support hash searching so disabling those providers is an option.

Could you list your agent preferences regarding search embedded and external subs and save subtitles to metadata or folder and what folder?
With what agent do you switch priorities?

Release is a part of the guessing and matching algorithm but it depends on your filename. The full path to the video file is supplied to subliminal, so that's the only information subliminal has. If you have renaming in place by various tools, this might remove information and therefore produce less accurate results.

If I move Local Media Assets (TV) from place 1 to 2 and Subliminal TV Subtitles from 2 to 1.

Is there also a possibility to login into opensubtitles.org?

Will try to reproduce your situation.

Login on open subtitles is not supported in subliminal for now, see issue on their github :

I always keep the release name since this is standardised and easy to find correct subtitles (at least manually).

After a reinstall of PMS I get duplicates anyway ;(

If you look in the plugin agent log you can see what subliminal uses to match subtitles. Its part of the guess it library.

I did not yet look into this, but your settings indicate to store sub's in metadata.
I don't know if the reinstall also cleared the metadata directory.
At least I can point out that the sub's are stored in metadata by using the language code and URL the sub is downloaded from. The first one is always the same, I expect. Therefore the problem could be that the URL changes along the way. I have not seen this behavior in open subtitles nor podnapisi, but my test cases could have missed certain providers.

If you do a refresh on that file a third time, will a third sub show up?
Can you deduct from the log file from what provider the sub is downloaded from?

No force refresh bug like all other subtitle agents :) dunno what the problem is.

Can you deduct from the log file from what provider the sub is downloaded from?

I will check it right now ;)

edit: log files are too big. Also got banned (24 hours) on Opensubs, addic7ed and Podnapisi :( I will inform you tomorrow about the logfiles.

Is there a possibility to remove unwanted subtitles?

If you store subs as metadata, no. But if you store them next to media files, yes. You can find the sub's in the media folder location.
You can remove the sub's you don't want and refresh the metadata using at least local media agent.

Great plugin.  Thank you for this work.  One quick request.

Would you be able to add Brazilian Portuguese (pt-br) to the settings?  Subliminal supports, I just don't see it as an option (just standard Portuguese).

Adding a language is easy, update DefaultPrefs.json to add the IETF language code and Strings/en.json for the display value.

I created a branch add_languagues, you can check it out here

https://github.com/bramwalet/Subliminal.bundle/archive/add_languagues.zip

I haven't tested it yet (therefore it's not in master yet).

Hi

Thanks this fantastic plugin, this is exactly what I was looking for !

Unfortunately I have some issues (Full log enclosed) :

2014-08-02 15:52:16,640 (8c0) : INFO (logkit:16) - subliminal.providers: Skipping provider 'addic7ed': not a valid video
2014-08-02 15:52:16,655 (8c0) : INFO (logkit:16) - subliminal.providers: Skipping provider 'tvsubtitles': not a valid video

The plugin still succeeds to download a sub in English but not in french.

I've tried with a standalone version of Subliminal and I get two subs from addi7ed in English and French...

Thanks in advance and congrats for this great work.
