Remote Access Manually set public IP

Hello,

I would like to open a feature request to have the ability to set a specific public ip for remote access (same as we already can do with the port)

(sorry for the french screenshot but I believe it’s still understandable)

Use case:

  • I have a VPN. It force all the outgoing traffic through the VPN (shame I can’t do split tunneling). Therefore when enabling remote access the public IP detected is the one from the VPN. I would like the public IP to be my public IP (for better performances but also cause I can’t control PAT on the VPN side)

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

This already exists.
Settings - Server - Network - ‘Show Advanced’ - “Custom server access URLs”

Keep in mind: it says “access URLs”, not “IPs”

It doesn’t work the same way at all. What you propose allow me to go directly with a custom url or ip whatever. But it doesn’t work using app.plext.tv

Have you tried it? It works perfectly for me. Using plex.tv too.

Yes I tried it doesn’t work. It works with indirect if i enable remote access.

What exactly did you put in? (you can mask the actual IP)

You used https You can’t do that unless you also have a fitting, publicly trusted certificate. Which is not easy to get, since this is not a FQDN but an IP address.

Try with http instead.
Restart Plex server after putting it in.
Leave it sitting there for at least a few hours.
Then reboot one of your clients and try to reach your server from the outside.

Ignore the message about remote availability in Plex, because the accessibility test doesn’t work with a custom URL.

Somehow it works but that kinda gringe me I have to use http instead of https cause it won’t allow self signer certs

Hello,

In the end it doesn’t work if you go through the web browser app.plex.tv => I was right
