Remote Access Not Working

Hi,

I have just configured my ISP’s new router, which is a CGNM-2250-SHW Hitron and I have managed to forward the necessary Port 32400 to access the pms externally. I can use the site http://canyouseeme.org/ with success for port 32400. I have a Nas4free OS version 9.3.0.2 - Nayla (revision 1349). Plex media server version is 1.0.0.2261. I have managed to configure the firewall rules for pretty much all other applications and had pms working for a while on it. Now I cannot seem to get access to the PMS from outside without completely disabling the firewall.

I noticed in the plex media server.log I get this when I try to click on retry under server mapping:

Error issuing curl_easy_perform(handle): 7
Oct 09, 2016 00:20:37.495 [0x809ce3c00] WARN - HTTP error requesting GET http://plex.tv/pms/:/ip (7, Couldn’t connect to server) (Failed to connect to 52.51.103.217: Permission denied)

I don’t see any other errors in the log.

I have manually mapped the public port to 32400 in this case. If I disable the firewall and click connect everything works and I have remote access. Then I can re-enable the firewall and it still works. I cannot for some reason have the firewall on and then click the apply / enable remote access on the plex media server. For the life of me I do not know why. It seems like really strange behavior.

Is there a solution for this? I noticed that this only shows on the plex android app as a direct connection for a while. Then it will go to an indirect connection, possibly when my routers external WAN IP changes it losses the direct connection? I don’t know if that makes any sense. Can someone please help?

Thanks,
Clint

I would guess it’s your NAS4Free’s internal Firewall. You can find out more information about it here: http://forums.nas4free.org/viewtopic.php?t=233

You may be able to edit the rules from the NAS GUI (default: http://127.0.0.1:8888)

been there and done that. As I mentioned:

“I have manually mapped the public port to 32400 in this case. If I disable the firewall and click connect everything works and I have remote access. Also 52.51.103.217 does not seem like the correct IP address for my networks external WAN.

Also I need to mention that with the firewall enabled I can use: http://canyouseeme.org/ for port 32400 and it says that it can see the service.

Any other thoughts. Do you have a specific example of a firewall rule I could use/try? It seems like plex is using other ports that are not mentioned in the instructions.
