Remote Access & Plex Pass

I’m wondering if I need a Plex pass for remote streaming, or if it provides any benefits? I’d like to setup a server at my house and be able to stream 4k movies while at my relatives houses. We all have fiber, so bandwidth isn’t a concern. Would I need a Plex pass for this, or is the free version all I need? I’ve seen conflicting reports about a 2mbs remote streaming limit - any truth to this? Or are there any other limitations with remote streaming that a Plex pass would help with?

You don’t need a Plex Pass to access your server while away from home.

There’s a load of benefits in a Plex Pass though

Plex clients default to 2 Mbps for remote connections. Change the setting to Original/Maximum when configuring things at your relative’s house.

This has nothing to do with a Plex Pass. It is the default setting for Plex clients.

FYI, save 20% on a Lifetime Plex Pass.
