I just signed up as a lifetime member. I want to access my movies at another house when visiting family. Do I need to set up anything to cast it to a tv at the new site except having access to the internet at that house?
You might want to take a look at this support article.
There’s a number of components involved in making your server’s content available outside your home network – many of those are under your control (PMS, server machine, your home network / router) – some aren’t (e.g. restrictions applied by the ISP).
Just make sure your server declares that Remote Access is available (green checkmark next to the word Remote Access in your Plex web settings), and you should be good to go. Read up on the remote access page that tom80H linked if there is an issue.
A way to test that is disable wifi on your cell phone and use cellular data. Try to access a video. If it plays, then you know outside access is available once you get to your friend’s house.
…Assuming their TV is cast-capable.
