Hello, I’ve read thru posts for days trying to find an answer but to no avail I decided to post to get help…
I have constant remote buffering, it doesn’t matter if it’s a 25 gig file or a 1 gig files is going to buffer.
My server has the following hardware
I7 Intel can’t recall the specific one. 32 gigs ram, running Windows 10 from ssd.
My Internet is cat 6 to a gigabit modem. My download is north of 800 most days with a solid 60 Meg upload…
I’ve even bought plex pass to see it that fixed issue it doesn’t but I wanna keep active but not if my issue for remote viewing isn’t fixed…
Before you do this, though… Stop Plex Media Server for a few minutes. Then start it and give it a couple of minutes to stabilize. Then start playing a show you KNOW has issues and duplicate those issues. After a few minutes of the problems, stop the playback, download the zips and post them.
EDIT: Since your buffering appears to be remote, it also helps to know what your internet upload speeds are. If you are trying to Direct Play a 25Mbps file on a 10Mbps connection (upload speed) it will always buffer. You are trying to force 2x or more data than the pipe allows to pass through…
danj67 any update on your situation? Running into something and wanted to see if your logs are showing anything about “Transcode runner appearing to have died” in your logs. Been getting this error recently and none of my videos seem to be playing. Just weird.
Edit:
Just found out that in my case its when I have subtitles on… I put the subtitles to manual and the video loaded. When I tried to put the subs back on, video stopped working.
Nomad I figured out my issue an app I’ve used for going on ten years I’d say was causing the issues of buffering. Once I disabled it buffering went completely away I can stream as many as five concurrent streams from out of state no issues…
