I would like to suggest that Plex reconsider the inclusion of Merit TV (formerly Merit Street Media) and any associated Dr. Phil programming in the Live TV channel list. While I appreciate the variety of channels on the platform, the ongoing and recent controversies surrounding this content feel increasingly out of place on a quality service like Plex.
My request is based on the following public criticisms and recent developments:
-
Recent Bankruptcy and Ethical Allegations (2025–2026): Dr. Phil’s media venture, Merit Street Media, recently faced a high-profile shift from reorganization to Chapter 7 liquidation. Court proceedings in early 2026 have included serious allegations of “swindling” business partners and “shady maneuvers” to launch new ventures while leaving employees and creditors behind.
-
New Investigative Exposés: The 2026 documentary series Dirty Rotten Scandals has brought forward fresh testimony from former staffers regarding a toxic workplace culture and what they describe as “intense” psychological manipulation of guests.
-
Questionable Treatment Ties: There is ongoing public criticism regarding the “suspicious relationships” between the show and the private treatment facilities it promoted, suggesting a profit-driven pipeline rather than a legitimate therapeutic one.
I believe removing this channel would align Plex with a more ethical and responsible approach to “Reality” and “Talk” broadcasting.
