Removed versions makes content Unavaialble

Server Version#: 1.32.6.7371
Player Version#: Web 4.113.2, Android 9.29.1.3463

Reporting this in beta as this bug still exists, but I believe it’s been around for a few versions. I don’t know if this is a bug in server or client code, but since it’s an issue on Web & Android players, it would be in shared logic.

[Repro steps]

  1. Download multiple versions of a show/movie (e.g. different resolution or codec)
  2. Delete one of those versions (e.g. because you don’t need that version any longer)
  3. Check the show/movie on a Plex Player (web or android)
  4. Try to download the show/movie for offline playback

[Expected]
Show/movie shows as available and the available version is downloaded.

Could be a setting, but would also expect the unavailable version to be deleted/scrubbed, if there is another available version.

[Actual]
Show/movie shows as unavailable. Going to “File info”, only one of the two shows “unavailable”.
Download fails and asks you to try again.

[Logs]

I believe the place to start is to search the Server logs for:
“didn’t exist, can’t skip”

Hi @rhinot It sounds like you may not have Empty trash automatically after every scan enabled. I suggest you take a look at https://support.plex.tv/articles/200289326-emptying-library-trash/ and ensure it is enabled and then try the steps again.

Thanks. Enabled and will let you know if it doesn’t fix the issue.
