I get a topic from 4 years ago… about some users having tons of Xbox connecting… and renaming them for easier…(piracy???)

now… I’m just a user and need the same… i have 7 TVs in this house… Multiple “smart” devices. Mostly using the Amazon system(couple of Rokus) more if you consider the “security” of the home which integrate

my issue is the naming devices for amazon… I can’t tell which TV, Firestick/ Amazon Show, or Tablet is which in the software…

it would be simple to implement… especially if they are ONLY tied to the same IP for the household… Piracy aside… should be easy to do… I’ll have the device in my hand… no one else will

In the Plex app settings, change the Friendly Name.

You may need to sign out / sign in and/or remove the device from Authorized Devices, then re-authorize.

Plex will then display the new Friendly Name in Authorized Devices, in the Plex Dashboard, and in the log files.

Works on my Google Pixel 6a and Amazon FireTV Stick 4K Max.

In addition to FordGuy61‘s feedback… there’s already 2 suggestions addressing the same topic from 2 separate angles (naming authorized devices, display names)

I suggest you comment/vote in those threads in to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes.
