Replicated Storage with multiple Rokus

I have a dedicated Plex server where it’s libraries are on a Netgear RN104 drive. The Plex server makes a network connection to the RN104 and all local Roku’s make a connection to the Plex box over the wired network. Now, here is the part where I need help and if its possible to do. I have another RN104 at my fathers house in another state that receives RSYNC backups from my RN104 at my home. I have other data on my NAS and just use that as my own DIY “Cloud backup”. So, my dad is allowed to connect to my Plex server via his Roku3 at his home (the backup NAS is also at his home). From time to time, the internet connection is not fast enough from his house either due to me running scheduled backups or if his Internet is down. How could I configure his Plex client on his Roku to connect to the local RN104 there since it is an exact copy of my media library?

you can’t connect to it directly, you’d need to install a Plex Server at his house and have him connect to that.

My first thought was to look at adding Plex on the RN104 that is at his house there and maybe that could work? How would that affect my account? I am friends with another person who has his own Plex server and for some reason, my Plex client doesn’t connect to my local Plex box but to his… I have to manually change the server back to mine. I guess asking how that would affect my account, I was referring to how would my Plex clients connect to a plex box? Would it try to find both and choose one?
If I did install Plex on the ReadyNas, could I configure it where it does not require a PlexPass with remote access and is available locally there only?

On the left side of the User’s page you see “My Home” and “Friends”. You are a part of his Home. You really should be listed as a “friend” as you have your own server. I think he added you as a Home User as well as being in his “Friends” listing.

That means that you can’t make your own Home with your own 15 Managed Users. Only he can do that. So, I would ask your friend to remove you from his Home, but still keep you as a friend. Then you can still view his media, but you also have your own Home available to you, should you decide you need it.

Last time I paid him a visit, I just logged into the Plex account on his roku with my account so that he may use it… Its hard for him to remember a user ID and figured this was the easiest way. I just configured Plex on the RN104 at his house and picked the RSYNC folder where my backup media library is saved and it seems to work… It is still updating the library and will probably finish shortly. I turned off remote access on the settings, but when I log into my Plex account here at my house, I now see the second Plex server but the remote access indicator is showing green… That is strange… didn’t think it would do that…
