When I set my Plex user to the plex pass account holder (i.e. “master” account) and enter my pin, my roku plex app can see all of the my plex servers, local and remote. When I set the user to the account I created for my Dad, I can only see the Plex remote server at his house. I can use the web app on my computer and see the local server using either account, but the roku sees only the remote when my Dad visits and wants to watch something. That’s OK, and it works, but it is strange. Does anyone have any ideas?
Oh, the Plex server reports Version 1.3.3.3148 and is running under Windows 10. All of the devices are connected to the same WIRED network, even the Roku. There is no firewall or other device (other than the one network switch that handles my entire home network) between the Roku and the Plex Server (and remember, the Roku sees the server fine when using the master account).
Let me get this right. You have a PMS at your place, when using your “nurbles” account, you can see this server and another remote server. Is this server shared to you or another PMS logged in to your “nurbles” account but at another location? When your dad comes over and switched to his user on the Roku, he only sees the remote server. Has this remote server been shared to your dad’s account?
I am now thoroughly ashamed for posting my question in the first place. It never occurred to me that I might have not given my dad permission to see ANY of the content on my server. Or maybe it didn’t occur to me that the plex app (or server?) would be smart enough to NOT list a visible server that had no accessible content. Regardless, once I gave Dad’s account access to the movie and tv show libraries he wanted, it works fine now, as expected.
I’m truly sorry for wasting anyone’s time with my stupid question. L-)
