I recently discovered that the Android mobile version of the Plex app now supports playing STRM files, but other platforms do not. I hope STRM support can be added for other platforms as well.

Its literally the only reason I have a jellyfin pod running on my cluster - would love to kill it off and just have Plex…
Another issue is that the video library supports adding strm files, but the music library does not support adding strm files.
I also found out some bad news. They have already removed the playback support for strm files on Android phones in the new Plex Experience app.
However, strm files can still be played normally in the current Plex app on Android phones.

Support for STRM files is a basic feature — many third-party players already handle them seamlessly with Plex media libraries. It’s disappointing that after all this time, your app still doesn’t support it. Compared to these well-made alternatives, your latest app feels clunky and underwhelming. Instead of chasing unnecessary features, why not focus on refining the core media library experience? At this point, switching to Emby seems like a more reasonable choice.
