Would also like to be able to utilize .strm files, I bought a lifetime plex pass which should give us the same level of features as free apps like Jellyfin without a second thought.

It looks like Plex won’t add STRM support back. Thus, I am starting a project to support this. Not ideal, but better than nothing.

The Plex experience is truly outstanding; STRM support is the only area where it falls short compared to Emby.

Regarding the need for STRM support in Plex, I explored all relevant implementations on GitHub—including 52homsai’s excellent project—but none fully met my requirements.

Since I also need to mount these STRM files for use with Emby, I required a non-intrusive solution—one that avoids writing to the Plex database or modifying the STRM files themselves—to minimize potential future migration costs and compatibility issues. At the same time, the solution needed to support both web and app interfaces. Consequently, I attempted to implement a similar project myself.

However, I still hope that Plex will officially implement native STRM support.
