Request a filter under Artists that is "By Music Video" and Summery View showing "Music Videos"

Background:
I have added many Music Videos to my Plex music library, using the method of {matching filename portion of the audio file}[space]-[space]{title to use}-video.mp4

GOOD STUFF:

  • When you are at the track list of the album, you get the ‘Monitor’ icon and the ability to play the associated video, add to the queue or playlist. Great!

  • When you come out to the Artist, a MUSIC VIDEOS panel appears showing all videos from all the albums. Nice.

Missing:

  • When you come out to the Artists list, there is nothing to help you see your music videos. Sadness.

THE REQUEST:
So I would like to suggest,request or please inform me how to:

  • Add a filter “By Music Videos” to the list Title,Rating,Date Added,Date Played,Plays,{Music Videos}?

  • In the “Summary View” of the Artists, could you add the ‘MUSIC VIDEOS’ panel that is displayed on the artist page, under each artist in the summary?

I believe this would really help when you want to make a playlists, or queuing from your entire library, without having to bend the existing Plex too much, reusing what you have already made.

Please direct me to where I can learn how to change your page templates, and extend the filter, at any technical level.

I have watched Plex grow over many years, and it has truly become some awesome work.

Not sure if this is The Solution to your question, but it does work.

In addition to having music videos linked to the artists as you currently do, you can also add a new library for just your music videos. I’m still working out the settings to get proper album artwork to refresh on the music videos, but at least it’s a streamlined way to get directly to the music videos in your library and be able to search within them.

I currently just add a YouTube image via the Poster URL option within Plex to give me a better video still than some of the older video’s screenshots that automatically generate.

You can also add a specific artist to a Collection within the Music Videos library to help better organize them, since you can’t search by artist…but you can search by title if you name things accordingly.
