Request: Analytics / Control friends' remote quality settings from server

As the number of users on my Plex server increases, it would be really awesome to gain some control over the various users.

  1. The ability to collect analytics of user activity.
  2. The ability to set the remote quality of users who have access to your server.

I couldn't agree with this more. I want to know what my users are watching, what they're watching it on, what kind of quality they're watching, and the frequency they use the server. I would also love to know server stats at the same time, CPU load%s, uptime, etc.

It would kill be able to track usage. I mean, I already have some stats I get anecdotally, but I really want to be able to track the best time to patch the server, the best times to add files to the server, the best time to install new previews. I would also love an easy to read crash-log for remote users, if such a thing is possible.

All sounds a bit "big brother" on all those friends' you're giving access to! Why would you care what they're watching, apart from being nosey :P

Agree that the stream b/w limit would be a great addition though!

Plex pass members can see what each user is watching, the format it is in, whether it is transcoding, and the name of the device they are watching on.

https://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/79616-plexwatch-windows-branch/ for all your alalytics. Not sure which server platform you have, but they developed plexwatch for all of them.

Though PlexWatch and PlexWatch\Web are GREAT additions, they require many additional 3rd party apps/installation/maintenance/updates.

Having the info within Plex by default would be ideal.

+1 Like for me.

Being able to set clients remote options or cap the bandwidth usage should be a must.

@xNashx , welcome to Plex forums and Plex. You just woke an almost 3 year old dead forum topic.

There are other much more active topics that would be better for you to cast your vote on.
Please see Sticky topic “Top Feature requests” - https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/214180/top-feature-requests (one or two of them have much more votes and feature requests similar to this thread)

Additionally, before doing that, you may want to make sure you know how to get topics more attention by voting on them. (https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/163135/if-you-are-just-adding-1-posts-you-arent-voting)

Could a mod perhaps lock this thread, since it’s an old and necro’d duplicate thread?
