I am hoping that the app developers would add a ā€œFilenameā€ option for the player so that it sorts your library by filename rather than by any metadata.image

Yes, it would be great if the player displayed the file name (w/o file extension) as some of us out here have already named our files with sufficient info. (i.e. Artist Name - Song Name)
