[RESOLVED] Auto Resolution Switching on Android TV / Nvidia Shield TV

Unfortunately this won’t happen anytime soon:

Is the upscaler different for plex… I mean Netflix 1080p stuff looks ok compared to plex stuff that there is a big difference.

Doesn’t Netflix and Kodi support resolution switching… maybe this is why it looks better than Plex.

edit: Oh, maybe I’m wrong, maybe only Kodi.

Netflix doesn’t AFAIK. Kodi either (but it supports auto framerate switching) ?

MrMc supports both.

Up.

Come on Plex team, that’s the only thing missing for the ultimate plex experience on android tv.

Kodi supports both Resolution and Frame rate switching.

Now, yes.

But having the official app doing it would be nice.

It seems this feature has already been implemented. If you set the option “Enable new video player” a new setting to automatically change the resolution appears.
And it is working great as far as I can tell.

Yes, it’s implemented now. Of course it was not at the time of the precedent answer

I know, I’m just wondering why the forum doesn’t have a “implemented” tag for feature requests so people know if and when a feature was implemented and that you shouldn’t vote for it anymore.

Or a simple post by the devs like “implemented in version x.y.z, currently in beta” would bring much more clarity.

Edit
actually this feature request should have been closed as described here so we get our votes back.

If we close/archive a thread because it has been implemented users will get their votes back to vote on something else.

Can anyone confirm if this feature is working? I have both resolution switching and frame rate switched on but when playing 1080p content my Samsung TV still reports the source as 4k.

Yes, it’s working fine.
