it has been some time now it is not working. @“Plex Main” : could you fix it asap
Hello @trumpy81
Thank you for your suggestion. I tried it out but unfortunately it doesn’t change a thing
Actually I am able to connect and browser the flex server libraries. However, as soon as I try to play a video, the transcoding session starts well but stops almost immediately reporting"Failed to stream media, client probably disconnected: 32 - Broken pipe".
hello
as explained in the first post, everything is working perfectly fine with version 1.3.4.3285 (I tried again a rollback to that version, it is working OK). Without any other change than updating the PMS to last version, it does not work with version above 1.3.4.3285. So the logic is saying that the bug is coming from flex, don’y you think?
However, whatever the PMS version, all movies are to be transcoded using the standard plex Sony 2011 profile file.
I will try to adapt the profile file to force direct play but it will unfortunately not be suitable for all movies.
Plex definitely needs to check it out and fix it!
The dlna profile used for my TV is the “Sony Bravia 2011.xml” (provided inside the flex app bundle for macos).
Most of the movies I have are avi. As you can see, this format is not supported as direct play.
Therefore flex transcodes most of the time for avi with the above target:
I can certify the PMS is actually transcoding whatever PMS version I have (I can see it in the log as well is the menu bar where it says “1 transcoding session active”).
I will try to share my logs.
Here is a workaround.
1/ You have to change the renderer name on your Sony TV. Can be done in setup/network/…instead of KDL-xxx you have to added a P to have KDLP-xxx. This change is required to use a specific profile
2/ Use the specific profile (file in attachment). Copy this file in ~/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Profiles. The specific profile will override the plex standard profile for sony 2011 TV because of the renderer name change you made in 1/.
3/ Restart the plex media server and you’re done.
@plex: you should integrate this profile as the default one in the plex media server package
