Hello everyone
First of all many thanks for this beautiful service, im already a long time user and i am very happy with everything you do
I have a small but very bad issue, but first my setup:
My Plexserver is running on a unused desktop pc, upgraded with some parts to run as a server, beautifully hidden in a cabinet… so i have access over rdp but access physically is always a little complex, so i try to run everything as automated as possible.
First i started with a normal HDD, after some time and growing library the access got slower and slower so i upgraded to a big SSD and it was AMAZING fast. but as it is, the library growed more and more and the speed of displaying/listing items went down again… i spent a lot of time after to install all the needed files on a ramdisk and getting everything running a lot faster again
and this setup runs so far very fast and the user experience is just great.
Now my problem, some times ago, plexserver started to add .db-smh and .db-wal files. my plexdb size is normaly a little less then 2gb, but those additional files are growing constantly… i already extended my ramdisk to 4 gb (cant spare more ram without lossing other perfomances) and like this the server is runing for some days smoothly until the 4gb are filled with those extra files and then the whole plexserver crashes… then i can spend some funny time again to try to recover all data and repair the db
I already checked what those extra files are for and they came from the sql server and contains some temporary data…
Now i noticed that if i exit the plexserver over the trayicon → exit, the temporary files are cleared (i think they are somehow merged back to the original db file) and the used discspace drops under 2gb again. so currently i log in every day to exit the server manually and restart it to prevent from dataloose, but i think this couldnt be the solution.
my question now is, is there a way to exit the plexserver automaticaly/programmatically over any possible way? i already went so far to try to write a tool which clicks on the trayicon, but windows doesnt found it so funny so it doesnt seems to work
also just killing the task/process is not the solution because like this the temporary files wont be merged back.
or did someone had the same problem and got a solution? im into every hacky possebility, as long as i dont have to login again every day
many thanks again guys you are awesome!!
