Restored my server data to new install after drive failure, cannot get old server to load

Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156

QNAP TS-1685 running QTS 5.2.8.3359 Build 20251225

I have a separate DataVol that only contains PMS. Due to constraints a the time, it was on a single SSD, which went bad. I had my Plex Media Server folder entirely backed up, so I wasn’t too concerned. I have rebuilt the DataVol with two SSDs for a RAID1, reinstalled Plex from my latest .qpkg update file on admin account, and restored my Plex Media Server data to the appropriate path (/share/CACHEDEV3_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library/Plex Media Server/), but when starting Plex, it either will not start or it asks me to build a new library when it does.

Not sure what is going wrong. Any assistance restoring my server would be greatly appreciated.

Copy of your server logs?

Apologies in advance, as I have only a surface level of knowledge about these things.

Since i cannot get my server up, i cannot navigate to the appropriate menus to download logs. I do have my logs from the backup server data, but those will be from about a week ago and aren’t likely to cover the issue i am currently having. How would i pull server logs for this issue?

Please review the server log article for the section covering Manually Finding Log Files

These are all the logs from before SSD failure. No new logs have been generated since attempted rebuild.

Then check permissions on the folders. Logs should be being created

I have been through it and made sure all permissions are correct. Plex will not even open from the apps on QNAP. It says “Starting…” when i try to initialize it and then it just goes back to a gray icon with the start button under it.

Ok, so i got it working. I had installed Plex using the most recent update file then added all my backup data. Plex wouldn’t even launch after that, so i updated Plex with the same update file to hopefully clear some things up. After that, made sure to restore my backed up .db files to Plug-in support and things are finally back up and running.

Sounds like the re-install fixed the permissions issue. Odds are the plex internal user wasnt given the correct permissions after you restored your backup (when restoring files permissions can easily get mixed up)
