Since the latest update on September 7th, Plex crashes three seconds after launch. No errors reported, just bounces back to home screen. I can not find logs, there does not appear to be any place in settings to enable or see logs.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Plex app on the Streambar both before and after power cycle several times. Still crashing after three seconds. Please advise.
Hardware and app version:
Roku Streambar
Plex for Roku
7.6.1.8501-67117911f-Plex
So, even as a paying customer, there is no way to get support? Devs don’t care enough to even respond? OK, got it, will cancel my sub and request refund.
Sorry for the delay! I hope we can help. I see you listed 7.6.1.8501-67117911f-Plex as the current version which is a little concerning. That was released in August. The roku should have updated to 7.7.2 about 13 days ago. Roku also just published our most recent update, so it should now be on 7.8.4.
Could you please go to the Roku settings, system, software update, and run check now.
Could you also DM me your DeviceID located in the about section of the Roku settings?
Sorry, I was incorrect about the version, my Roku was in fact running 7.7. I got the 7.6 version from my plex server without thinking that my Roku probably hadn’t been able to connect since the 7.7 update, so it was reporting the older version.
I have just confirmed version 7.8 is on my Roku and working (it auto-updated). The most frustrating part is that I had just tested it again this morning and it still wasn’t working so I canceled my subscription and installed Jellyfin. Now that Plex is working again, I’ll probably switch back to that since I have more experience with it. Though I did like that Jellyfin seemed better at recognizing some of my more obscure media. But I don’t have much media so that’s hardly a solid data point and the consensus seems to still be that Plex is more solid overall.
Thank you for your reply, I just wish it had come 12 hours earlier, would have saved you a subscriber and me some headache.
