Roku Says it's playing surround, but plays stereo

Server Version#: 1.19.4.2893
Player Version#: Roku App version 6.6
Running into an odd issue with playback on Roku. I’ve tried it on PS4 and it’s fine, no issue (so I’m thinking it’s the roku app). The Roku app plays the file, and it says it’s playing the 5.1 track, but it in fact plays the stereo track. It can be solved by switching the track to stereo, letting it play for a second or two, and switching it back to 5.1. If you back out the video and go back in, it has the same problem again.

Here is the especially weird part, these are all video files where I used Handbrake on my BluRays, so I noticed it only has the issue on BluRays where the original source was DTS. If the original source was “True HD” the Roku app picks up the track fine.

Again, the PS4 app picks up the 5.1 track right away fine, and the Roku app can play it, you just have to switch the source back and forth. Tried it on a half dozen different BluRays. A little bit stumped.

I had the same issue after an update on my Roku Premieire’s

I solved it by playing a video and then pressing the star button. A menu comes up at the side with audio settings. Choose off. Then restart the Plex app and your amp will recognise that a DD/DTS signal is streaming.

Also in the audio settings on the Roku make sure it is set to automatic on both audio and HDMI audio.

If like me have 5.1 DTS 96/24 mixed albums also make sure the DTS-HD passthrough is ticked in audio settings in plex. It doesn’t pass through DTS-HD but it will passthrough DTS 96/24.

Hope this helps
