Rotate Plexamp on iOS (iPhone)

I would like to keep my iPhone plugged in and sitting on a stand, but the port is at the bottom. I would like to be able to use Plexamp when the iPhone is upside down, but Plexamp doesn’t rotate! I also have external speakers plugged in to the 3.5MM port (yep, old iPhone used as a Plexamp player), so having the iPhone upside down is really useful. This should be trivial for the devs to implement; just allow for screen rotation 180 degrees.

iPhones with a notch (iPhone X and newer, excluding the SE/SE2) don’t support 180° rotation.

Apple Developer Documentation

I do think it would be technically possible for Plexamp to explicitly support “upside down” rotation for devices with a home button. Consider moving this to #feature-suggestions so others can vote!

None of the other apps I tried (e.g. Spotify or Music) allow this either. Personally I’m not a huge fan of it as it means you can end up having it rotate when you actually don’t want it to, e.g. handing it to a friend or something.

I guess less and less apps support 180° rotation. I supposed the “answer” is to use bluetooth for sound and wireless charging for power.

BTW, foobar2000 supports 180° rotation

DOH! I don’t know why I didn’t try this before, but I can just rotate the phone 90°! I rarely use my phone rotated, other than to take pictures, so I just didn’t go there.

OK, crisis averted.
