I’d like the feature on my Mac to run Plex Media Server as a Daemon with launchd, so that it can run even if no one is logged in.
Hi
Please do add this capacity.
This would be superb
I log in with my account and then press on my user on the top bar and click on “Show login screen”. Plex (and everything else) continues to run. Maybe this is more or less what you want
Heh, we Windows users have been requesting the ability to start Plex as a Service (our equivalent of your daemons) for years. Good luck, is all I can say. I hope we both (eventually) get our wish…

Yes yes yes!
This is exactly how it SHOULD run same as it does on Linux! Requiring a user login is silly…
I would love this two
i would love this as well.
Please devs? This would be very helpful for my home server!
And it would use less resources as well, I assume.

Yes, generally a daemon uses less resources, but not always. There’s not a lot of UI other than the web UI so I’m not sure that it would. Still, it would not use more resources, that’s for sure.

I don’t think Plex itself would use much less ressources, but not having to load all the other apps that load at login can be huge!
We need this feature
Yes please.
+1 on this particular feature.
really easy to do it by yourself:
http://www.launchd.info
or use:

thanks!
This actually… seems very obvious. I am shocked 6 years later this is STILL a request?
This software is so perfect. I want to buy a plex pass. It does everything so well. 60fps 1080p HD video with DVR using my HDHomeRun network tuner. Works on all clietns flawleslessy. But WOW I cannot beleive it does not run as a daemon! This is a serious problem for my setup. Can you please make it so you can run it as a daemon. You made it so on Windows it could be run as a service.
