Running out of windows drive letter mounting!

Server Version#:
Player Version#:

hello I am not sure if someone is crazy like me to have as much harddrives around

so basically I have many PCs at home and PMS is installed in 1 strong machine. other PCs only have harddrives in it

so in the PMS PC I just mount through network and give them a letter E F G H etc

but now I have problem that I have used all the letters from A to Z that’s mean I cannot add any more new harddrives

is there any solution for this problem ?

Another solution would be to get external NAS device(s) and connect these per Ethernet.

A third would be to mount the drives into subfolders of the primary drive. Albeit the cheapest, it is the least preferable solution, because then Plex cannot distinguish if a missing(/temporarily disconnected) drive is only temporarily unavailable and simply assumes that the folder has been emptied out.
Thus it would remove all items from the Plex libraries, including their metadata.

And U sure that you need a drive letter for every single network drive? You do not have to give it a letter in order to access it. Letters are just making it a bit easier but they are not needed at all and even if you want to access all the drives with letters you can still collect multiple drives under one letter, like X:\drive1 X:\drive2 etc.

thank you for the reply guys

But i think i must give a drice letter to each one yah ?

Because when u add a new library in plex server it can only see the harddrive inside the PC or the drives that i mounted from the network. So i dont knlw how to make plex add a library by going inside a home network without mounting hummmm

how can you make multiple drives under 1 letter ? And does this mean i have to formart and lose data in order to make them combind together?

Ah so U actually need the letters for Plex, I see. Sorry did not know that. My Plex is running on a linux server.

You can also add a network path manually. PMS can’t list network paths so you can’t browse, you have to type/paste the path directly.

I was referring to that in my second post above.
No, you won’t need to reformat the drive for that.

I tried to copy paste the folder address from the network path and it worked !! So i dont need to mount any new drives in the future !

Thank u all
