I know this has been asked before but I can’t find a solution anywhere. All eco settings are off, tried all the different modes and nothing works - the TV dims after about 10 seconds of a slideshow and annoys the hell out of me! Has anyone found a magic code to stop this happening?
What different modes? There isn’t any power saving option in the app. Been trying to repro on my 2019 Samsung but cannot with all ECO mode stuff off.
So this is happening when I play a slideshow of my photos through the Plex app on the Samsung TV. It’s the TV that is dimming after about 10-15 seconds & that is what I’m trying to stop. The modes are the TV modes eg. Movie, Standard, Natural etc.
Same Photo problem for me on Samsung 6 series TV running Plex on Synology NAS.
Playing a folder of pictures (which are not full screen format) and picture dims immediately. Final picture in folder of whatever aspect ratio stays full brightness. A full format 16:9 picture folder played remains bright. Plex folder overview of thumbnails is full brightness. Using the native Samsung Media player and the Synology DLNA media server shows all pictures, of any aspect ration, at full brightness. Therefore I assume something in TV Plex software is altering brightness, roughly in proportion to area of TV screen covered, and without a way to turn it off. Shame because it is better at sorting and managing pictures but poor (and for me unusable) when displaying them. Have adjusted all available related TV settings without any significant effect.
I echo chilternphil’s problem. I am having the exact same issue. its really frustrating when trying to view photos with the family and they dim so much. This is not a Samsung issue, as I can open Plex on my PC and on my Samsung phone and it Plex does not dim the image when full screen like it does on the TV. I also, have all the Eco Bright features turned off on the TV. Plex, please let us turn off this “option”!
I am noticing this problem as well on my Samsung 2018 TV but after first few minutes of the dimming during the photo slideshow playback in some, but not all, photos, the problem seems to stop on its own in my case. Still needs some attention from Plex. My TV model is NU8000 and my hard drive is WD My Cloud running Plex server.
New Plex software last week. Photos now show for 0.2 seconds then blank. Press info shows dim photo with settings and press again to see photo normally (no dimming). However this multi press process has to be repeated tediously for each photo as slide show is just blank. Is this progress?
I’ve had the same photo dimming issue since day 1 of using Plex ( Samsung KS8000 tele). First server was a Macbook Air, and it’s now a Synology NAS. The issue was never fixed. My workaround was to play a video file ( of any kind ) briefly, stop, and then open Photo’s. All photos then display at full brightness
I too now have the 0.2 seconds then blank issue
Along with that, sometimes the Plex client doesn’t load fully on first opening. I just get the Plex logo and there is stops. Exiting out of the app and opening a second time does the trick
I’m having the same problem. I click on a photo using my Samsung remote and it blinks then goes to a blank screen. I wait and nothing happens so I have to go back out of it back to the thumbnails.
I just purchased to lifetime pass yesterday so this was frustrating when trying to show friends pictures of our newborn and the photos dont work.
GOOD NEWS - Pictures display properly!
I found last night that when I played music first ( a mix of Mozart and Pink Floyd) and then started looking at pictures it worked fine (for clarity that was music and photos together). Full screen pictures good and narrower and portrait pictures showed well with a background (side) colour linked to the main picture. Just as I had always wanted.
Today I started TV and just displayed pictures and again absolutely fine.
Either there has been a background update to TV or some ‘stuck’ software switch has been kicked into life. Whatever hopefully now all sweetness and light.
