Every version of the movie detailed below begins to pixelate and break up within the first 3 minutes. This is the only movie the system seems to have this issue with out of hundreds of movies (.mkv, .avi, etc, etc). All four versions of the movie play absolutely well through Plex on my PC. The problem only occurs when played through the Tizen app on my Samsung Q55Q7FAMW QLED smart TV.
Versions of the movie that have had the problem are:

The Plex server is a NAS (Xeon E3-1240v6) running at 3.7Ghz under virtually no load (CPU ranging 2~6%, disk defragmented and utilization < 10%, 24% of 16 GB ECC RAM). O/S is Synology DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 4 with 47% storage free of 62.8 TB.
I am experiencing the exact same issue. At first I thought it might be related to the audio format of the files, but after testing multiple versions I guess this is not the case. Did you find a solution to this problem in the meantime?

Is the video transcoded?
Are subtitles in use?
Which playback device and software is used?
Video is transcoded (I think).

Extended Display Title 中文（简体） (中文 SRT)I got the media info using my PC’s PlexWeb App interrogation of the server (Supermicro X11SSL-CF with Xeon E3-1240-V6 cpu, 16GB ECC memory, running Synology’s SHR under DSM 6.2.2-24922 u4) (xpenology bootloader). I don’t think that my system is capable of hw transcoding as the E3-1240v6 doesn’t support it.
I can’t currently access the TV (otherwise engaged), but from memory, subtitles were not turned on when the output was being sent to the Samsung Q55QA7FAMW.

Video transcoding is probably not necessary. Only audio transcoding, because the Samsung will probably not play EAC3 audio.
Another idea: some Samsung TVs have issues when there are too many subtitle streams in a file.
Use MKVtoolnixGUI to remove all subtitle languages from the MKV file, which you don’t use.
Ripping out all the subtitles but English has fixed my issue. Hope it solves the OPer
@OttoKerner: Yes - after running MKVtoolnixGUI to remove all but the English subtitles my Samsung QA55Q7FAM had no problems displaying the movie. Thanks for your assistance.
Have now came across the same issue playing the Netflix TV show ‘Cursed’ The show plays correctly from my NAS (xpenology running DSM6.2.2-24922u4) PMS through Plex on all other devices, except from my Samsung TV Plex (Tizen 4.29.6). Again this ‘Cursed’ media is loaded with subtitles and it seems that this is the cause of the problem.
I’m not happy that the Samsung Tizen app is again exhibiting this problem when other devices can play the media correctly. Is there any action being taken to modify the Samsung Tizen app to rectify this issue? It’s not right that I have to modify my media to get it to play correctly on the Samsung smart tv when the same media is suitable to play on other devices.
BTW, my NAS server is only running at 3~5% CPU when playing two streams of TV episodes, including ‘Cursed’, S01e01.

I understand that Samsung has been alerted to this issue. I am told this is on their end.
Does something change if you enable the “preview” app?
Thanks for this. I haven’t tried the early preview yet, but my son has on same TV and he says it works perfectly. Will try myself in about 20 minutes.
