Scanner trying localhost connection when Plex is bound to a specific interface

Server Version#: 1.13.6.5339
Player Version#: Web clients, 3.67.1 (app.plex.tv), 3.63.1 (from the server)… iOS 5.3 (running on iOS 11.4.1)

This may not be WD specific, but since I have a WD NAS, I’ve tagged it accordingly.

After updating first to 1.13.6.5332 (latest public), and now .5339 (latest Plex Pass), my server seemed to no longer update when new media was added to the library. I checked the Scanner logs and found a possible regression with regards to the recently added “select an interface to bind to” functionality. The scanner was trying to make connections to 127.0.0.1, even though I had told Plex to bind only to the wired network interface of my NAS. Sure enough, after changing Plex to not bind to a specific interface, the scanner worked great and the new media I recently added to my library appeared.

A sample log from the scanner from last night is attached.
Plex Media Scanner Analysis.log (7.8 KB)

The localhost 127.0.0.1 is needed for the agents and transcoder

The issue has been identified as only if ipv6 is enabled

Disable ipv6 within Plex Media Server network settings and that should overcome the issue

Well, that would explain it then… as I do have IPv6 enabled. But I don’t have any plans to disable that, so I’ll just keep Plex bound to all interfaces instead for the meantime.
