Appreciate ability for users (non admins) might be able to add / schedule / delete tv recordings via browser sometime in near future, but utopia is to be able to set recordings via TV plex app directly on the smart TV’s with tv remote to give that pvr tv feel… happening anytime soon ? On road map?
It was leaked as coming to Android TV at the very least. We don’t know about other clients.

@danjames92 thanks for that. Pity Android TV and Plex DVR didn’t work for me, so I have LG and Samsung TV’s… Fingers crossed Plex works on Plex apps for those other tv vendors too.

Those two apps are probably the last to get it if at all to be honest. Pretty sure the only reason they exist is because a 3rd party worked on them and then was brought into the Plex team.
If Plex DVR doesn’t work for you, why do you want a recording interface? ![]()
The ability to look at the program guide and schedule recordings from the client is ESSENTIAL. I tried today to convince my wife to use the Plex DVR on our Apple TV which we use for everything. It was going well…until I told her she had to use the website Plex Web to see the program Guide and schedule recordings…that was a deal breaker and she refused to use it.
99% of the Plex users that are not the Plex administrators will not be happy to have a DVR without the ability to do scheduling and program guide viewing on the client.
Yeah it’s a complete non starter with out that. Interesting tech preview but not something to get any serious air time without this
Can’t guarantee this but I heard a rumor this IS currently being worked on!!!

@danjames92 Plex DVR works fine for my 2 LG TV’s (just didn’t work for Sony Android TV I tested) I think LG and Latest Samsung have proper Plex.Inc apps

@jayz78 ye agree, to have Plex as the centre of the home media centre experience, means the family must be able to have control on adding/deleting recordings via TV interface/remote… fingers crossed this is being worked on.

@jjrjr1… interesting, you heard from a good source? Or your drunk mate at the bar? ![]()
It’s a matter of function.
Plex DVR a way the admin can use to add content and fill in missing TV episodes. This is easy for TV Shows because you just add the series and setup your criteria and it does it. With movies you have to constantly schedule them every couple of days. This is not unlike using Myth TV, NextPVR or similar to record things and add them to your libraries.
Is Plex DVR trying to be a set top box replacement? Not with the current releases but the Android slip shows up they are working to bring this functionality to clients.
Far to early to read anything into it at present since we don’t know if this will be limited to the Admin or Home Users or can be controlled on a user by user basis.
But it’s obvious due to the android leak that Plex is moving in the way of control via the client and of course remote control.
A different manufacture besides Silicon Dust has put out a press release/marketing material that one of their new tuners will work with Plex so we know additional tuners are coming from at least one other manufacture. Users have been putting together ways to make other tuners (Enigma) work with Plex which will make it easier for Plex to officially support them as well (Sat).
The product is still BETA as they work out the core issues, add more tuners and of course expand the functionality. They are doing a good job so far.
So if it helps don’t think of it as a set top box replacement YET but think of it as a way to fill out your libraries easier (especially missing or new TV Shows). For those with non-techie better half’s don’t try and force Plex DVR on them and wait for it to mature and come to your favorite remote controlled Plex client.
Be warned: Wait until the better half figures out how easy it is to find movies on Lifetime, Hallmark and similar channels as well as how easy it is to find shows similar to Desperate Housewives. You’ll want to revoke their use. LOL

Ha ha tell me about it Cayars!
anyone seen any updates to this topic by chance?
The Plex client app which is user installable from the LG store is cited as being sold by “Plex, Inc”. There are other third party apps that claim Plex support, however, there is every reason to suspect that official Plex apps will eventually be upgraded to support Live TV functionality,…one would hope.
This could take some time though assuming it ever happens. Right now the latest Plex client app (version 2.1.0) on the LG store seems to be dated 09-07-2016. For what it’s worth, I currently find my LG Smart TV’s Plex app to be more responsive and more stable then the Plex Amazon TV app.

@jayz78 I’ve seen the Apple / IOS app can now add and mange TV recording on Plex , that although stills an admin user, I can publish this on family iPad centrally and allow the family to manage recordings as not as much functionality on the app (which confuses the family) as via the browser.
