I recently upgraded to PMS 1.13.0 and decided I’m tired of the maintenance running every day cause it’s been going off every night for like 2 years. I figured it should be done on whatever it supposed to be doing.
Probably these…
Upgrade media analysis during maintenance
Perform extensive media analysis during maintenance
I don’t mind that PLEX analyzes my media so I can have a better experience but really, is PLEX doing the same scan every day for 3 hours on the same stuff? Why isn’t it done? Surely PLEX can keep up with what I added in the last 2+ years, right?
So, I changed the time to run/stop the task from 3 hours to 23 hours.
Anyhow, my question is will PLEX finally stop “analyzing” my media. Will this give PLEX enough time to complete these tasks?
Thanks.
TL;DR
When will PLEX be done analyzing my files?
I’m assuming Plex is going to do stuff to stuff it’s not already done stuff to… ASS-U-ME, mind you…
At my house when the maintenance window strikes, the machine whirrs and buzzes for a few minutes… sometimes does something for few minutes, but mostly runs a full library scan and it’s over. I give it 2 hours a day, but rarely does it do anything for more than a few minutes.
I generate preview thumbs when something is added and apparently Chapter thumbs don’t take long 'cause after a few minutes the machine is idle during maintenance.
Would need to see y our logs to see what PMS is actually doing. It’s possible it is running into an issue doing something, so it is trying over and over. I’ve seen this happen with a bad file, where PMS just keeps scanning that file, running into an issue and failing, then trying again, and again, and again. It’s possible the failure is something not expected so we don’t have a time out to eventually stop trying.

I sometimes run integrity checks on my files before I add but that means jack to PLEX and how it might check.
Do you happen to have the command line PLEX executes to check for integrity or errors?
Plex doesn’t do integrity checks. If you mean the analysis, I have not tried it personally, but the command is listed in our guide. https://support.plex.tv/articles/201242707-plex-media-scanner-via-command-line/
But if it is running into an error, there should be something in the scanner log.

Yeah, cool… That’s what I was doing. Didn’t know about the deep analyze though. I’ll try that next.
