This afternoon Plex has decided it cannot connect to my Media Server as I don’t allow secure connections. I have changed literally nothing about my setup, so why is this coming up now?
(for reference: my server is set to allow insecure connections on the same network, but that’s it - and it has always been set up this way!)
Turning on the setting you did does not prevent secure connections, it adds the ability to use an insecured connection locally. The Plex clients may still be trying to use the secured connection. The message you are getting may indicate an actual issue with the secured connection so only insecured will work. Check the client, some also have the setting to allow using an insecured connection. Without that enabled, it defaults to using the secured, which isn’t working on your setup for some reason.
