Select Audio & Subtitle Strema - On smart TV Clients

Allow the user to select(/override default) audio and subtitle stream on the smart tv clients.
This is especially usefull for us with multiple language collections.

Different subtitles can already be selected in the Samsung client

I have LG tv’s all over the house, and unfortunately it does not work on those ??

What client are you using for playback?

Different subtitles can be selected in the iOS app and the Samsung Plex app… I’m don’t know the LG Plex app

Every Plex client supports switching audio and subtitle languages. (a DLNA client is not a Plex client)
The Smart Tv client usually only supports it like this:

  • Start playback. Movie plays with the default/preselected audio and sub tracks
  • pause playback. the ‘playback controls’ overlay shows a ‘preferences’ icon on the left side. Select and click it.
  • select audio and subtitle (if the particular movie has indeed several audio tracks or a soft subtitle track)
  • resume playback
